Creative Writing RIGHTEOUS SIN - THE BOOK, COMING SOON!!!! Righteous Sin is a fictional anthology written by a group of talented writers and myself. I am compiling the work and pushing it through the publishing process. It is a literary salad of ideas from creative individuals from different backgrounds with very little in common aside from their love for creative writing. The title might suggest religion to some, but it is not a religious book in any way. Righteous sin is simply a collection of fiction that touches our humanness in ways we sometimes easily choose to forget. My fascination with human nature, with what makes us tick, has been fed by encounters with some truly twisted people who have come and gone from my life. I have befriended 'types' who mom might describe as 'questionable characters'. My attraction to unusual people has much to do with my search for interesting personalities for my fiction rather than a sense of adventure. Because of that, it has been easier for me to give people the benefit of the doubt, and that approach to humanity has revealed to me reasoning and opinions that are often difficult to understand when looking from without. It is a common human habit to judge and even to condemn people for actions and choices that are contrary to accepted standards and expectations, I believe, but life and experience has taught me that no individual does any one thing or makes a choice without a good reason. Of course one person's good reason can be quite the contrary to another. Still this crazy chaos is what makes life what it is and people who they are, and I believe that seeing life from different points of view is the only way to make any sense of it. Making sense of anything is NOT about embracing it, but rather about understanding it. One of my favourite maxims is "Let he who has no fault throw the first stone". Those words, according to the bible, were spoken by Jesus when he was taunted to condemn a woman caught in adultery. Some people will define this as divine wisdom. I like to think of it as common sense. It's easier to point an accusing finger when you aren't the one under scrutiny. I believe that we live in a world where the decisions we make are highly influenced by our fear of what people will say or think, rather than its rightness and trueness to self. This fictional anthology is about that. It is about situations and choices and decisions peculiar to particular individuals. It is about choices made, that may seem wrong to those without, yet wholly righteous to he who feels it. This anthology is about individual courage to follow the inner leadings that brings about the peace we tend to so desperately seek. It presents angles to everyday situations, to lives we wish we could live, to lives we secretly live, to lives we outwardly condemn yet inwardly applaud. Stories that will make you laugh, anger you, bring tears to your eyes, have you nodding or with relief thinking "I knew I wasn't losing my mind". It is simply a collection of Righteous Sins. |
